Has anyone noticed the sudden increase in suicidal, unhelpful Medics? I'm a huge fan of Medic and even before the achievements I played rather offensively. I rarely went a life without get at least one or two kills with my flechette but I, of course, made healing my priority because we're Medics, we heal people. A lot of the "new wave" of Medics, so to speak, are so obsessed with our new doohikies that they forgoe healing in favor of charging into battle with their Blutsaugers out. A good Medic can whip out his gun or saw at the right time and get a kill, but this new predeliction towards offense rather than support (what we're meant to be doing) has resulted in team debilitating behaviour. Today, while playing Soldier on RED in Gravel Pit, I was running towards point A and saw a Medic running up the ridge to the point. I rocket jumped up and whipped out my shotgun. Rather than use his speed advantage to escape behind the numerous objects that could be used for cover, he charged right at a Soldier and got perforated by shotgun blasts.
So, to you Medics who think our new gun makes you an offensive class: HEAL! When people die right next to a Medic while spamming E because the Medic is too busy shooting something is wrong. To all the Medics who realize we're supposed to be there, staying out of harms we whenever possible and helping our team mates survive, thank you.
Anyway else notice this awful streak of stupidity?

Yes. On the bright side, it preserves the happy giddiness I get when I find a GOOD medic.

The offensive medic population has grown a lot, but more of a concern to me is the population of retarded medics who dont do either.
They stick to a heavy, why 5 friendlys are spamming the medic button 2 feet away.
I hate noob medics -_-

Yesterday, I was healing the whole match (and the whole time I'd been playing on the server before that, except when I was engi a bit). I was around top 1-2 for about the whole game. One time near the end, the cart in Gold Rush was nearing the end and I was on RED defending. I pulled out a bonesaw cause I was near the cart and nobody else was, and tried to saw somebody off it. This was the first time in that game I attacked anybody (which is rare, usually I have more opportunities and take them). Well, I died.
Somebody on voice chat got upset and starting raging about how the horrible medics on our team need to FUCKING HEAL, etc, etc. A short while later, as the cart was still dangerously close to the end, I did it again (because everyone else was dead again), except this time I killed the 1-2 people (I forget) on the cart and saved us from losing while everyone was respawning. Nobody complained that time!
1. Any game you play, healers will get a lot of shit. If you are better, you get less of it and more of the "good job m8," but you will ALWAYS have people who disagree with how you play at times.
2. People aren't concerned with whether or not your actions are actually smart or the best thing you could have done given your circumstances, they ONLY care about the END RESULT. If you make a wise move and fail, you suck. If you make a stupid move and get lucky and succeed, you are great at what you do.
I understand there are also a lot of genuinely bad medics running around, especially thanks to the medic update...

A bad medic is far more useful to everyone than a bad anything else (battle medics notwithstanding). if all they do is heal 1 heavy they're still keeping that heavy alive, whereas if they had played spy, demoman or pyro they would have simply died until they quit and not helped anyone.

I've said this before, in the countless posts on the exact same subject; Everyone is a critic. If they bitch at you while you're Medic, say "Fine, I'll switch to your class, actually kill people, and you can heal me. Since you're so good at it."
Everyone is a critic, and you will never make everyone happy.
To the OP, maybe the Medic was going offensive because your team wasn't killing people, or you were all dead, or his healee stranded him alone, or he just was a really crappy Medic.
Damn Medic, why did you die after I rocket jumped away from you! Damn Medic, why did we die after I led us into 10 enemies!

I have also noticed Medics being a LOT more aggressive lately. That Peer Review achievement is very tempting to them because I've been getting bone-sawed like nothing else.
I've had to focus a lot more on keeping myself alive as medic. Now on top of the entire opposing team trying to kill me, I have other medics who forgo healing to specifically come over me with their saws while my heal target is distracted trying to take out someone else.

Roger that. I was in the long sewerway under my base in 2fort healing a heavy when opposition appeared at the corner. My heavy laid out a torrent of bullets at the incoming soldiers but somehow missed a bonesaw-waving medic charging right at me, Iwo Jima-style. Get that? How does a fatty let a skinny medic pass him in the sewer way? Well I mic'd for help but it was too late and I was slain. I don't know who was the bigger jerk, my heavy or the opposing medic. Often times my patient is moving too quickly, and by that I mean that he is advancing without caution, so we when I get attacked he doesn't notice and I am forced to protect myself or flee. Good medicking is dependent on the patient too. Yes, that's right, fellas, it is possible to be a lousy patient!

lot of n00b medics lately.. worst case 'till now, was on dustbowl, st3, attack. We had 3 snipers (and yeah, n00b teamplayers) and 2 medics *only* healing the snipers... And we got those idiots who, the whole round, run around with the needlegun, completely ignoring their teammates. The latter case is the one which have really exploded since the update, and it's a pain.

I think that those medics need to understand, even with the Blutsauger, they are still going to lose to the offensive classes (Heavy, Demo, Soldier, maybe pyro) >90% of the time.
