Updated Guns Being Awarded Over Time?

[Well, about a week ago, I was playing tf2 for the first time after a fairly long break, and after playing for a few minutes I was happy to have an ubersaw added to my inventory. If you look at my stats right now, I have Milestone 1, Milestone 2, and Milestone 3, along with the 3 medic weapons, but I don't have all the achevements yet.] - Ignore me

I'm going to assume this is a glitch (If it is..they've sure had long enough to patch it..), but maybe it's valve's way of keeping newcomers to the game, or casual gamers, up with everyone else. I think it'd be a great idea, if they're not doing it already, to award the new guns over time, and allow players to still have the achievements to unlock.
Sorry if I'm wasting anyone's time and this has been discussed, but in my defence I Did read through all the TF2 Update News, and I did do a search of the site.

Shortly after the Pyro update, Valve patched TF2 to change the requirements on the Medic unlocks. Now you don't need every achievement to get the weapons.

They lowered the requirements to get the medic unlocks. In other words, if you had 23 achievements you wouldn't have the ubersaw pre-update, but after valve lowered the number you needed you would recieve it.

Oh I see. thanks. I was wondering, because it took me a few minutes of playing, and then leaving a server, and as soon as I left the little acheivement unlocked box popped up. I still think It'd be a good idea though.
